Rapid City, South Dakota, HERE WE COME, three months and seven days from now we will be celebrating another Markab Reunion. To look at the faces carved in that mountain leaves one speechless, as well as the other planned events. The time we share in the hospitality room sharing our memories of days on the Markab or even those of the past year. The Banquet is always a fitting conclusion. Have you made your reservations, do so quickly, time is running short. Looking forward to seeing all the familiar faces and the new faces of friends not seen in years. :)

As I near retirement I'm looking to see if any WWII crewmembers recall a Joe Budde (my dad) of a Frank Curtis (my wife's dad). I've kept a photo of the Markab on my wall for 30+ years, any info on the sailors mentioned would be appreciated.

Some sad news. I just got word that Ron Reames is dying of cancer. He found out that he had it after the Reno reunion. I'm told he's on a "short timers chain".
Send your prayers. :!sadsmile:

Hello all,
My father Bennie Castagnetta was aboard the USS Markab in WWII. I believe he was there in 1941 or 1942. He is 89 and well and living in the San Francisco bay area. Just wondering if any of his old shipmates from that time are still around.

Thanks,
Pete

I thought I would add to the newsletter two things I forgot to add, one is that the room price includes two buffet breakfastes with each room per day. The other is that there are camping grounds all over the area. One I would suggest is in Custer Park, incredible sights and buffalo roam everywhere. Check out on the web. Sorry and thank you.
